My newest addiction...

I love to read. Mysteries mostly. But I never seem to find the time. By the time I get home from work I'm so exhausted and my eyes are so tired, that I just can't bring myself to pick up my favorite books. I have shelves and shelves of books just waiting to be read. I don't know when I will ever get to them. Maybe if I ever get to retire I can start! Won't hold my breath for that!

So, I decided to try books on tape. I found two that were relatively inexpensive to try out. They can get very expensive! The first one I got was "All That Remains" by Patricia Cornwell. I really like her books anyway, so I thought, why not. I hate talk radio though so I wasn't sure how well this was going to go over. Well, let me just tell you, I loved it! I pop in that CD on the way to work and then again on my way home. I have found that I can listen to one entire CD on my drive to and from work every day. I am now on my third book on tape. It sure makes the time fly while your sitting in traffic!

And to make things even better, I found out today that you can actually rent these books on tapes from the library! WOO HOOO!!! Guess that means I have to get a darn library card!

This has got to be the best invention ever. I just hate now that I bought these two books on CD and haven't found anyone yet to pass them on to to enjoy! Oh well. Maybe I'll go back and re-listen one of these days.

Dinner With Friends.....

What an absolutely beautiful day! I love days like this. It is what makes living in Texas worthwhile! Perfect for being outside and getting fresh air. I've had the windows open the entire day and I love it cause it airs the house out. The animals love it to cause they get to look outside and feel the fresh air also. All the windows have cats sitting in them peering out at the world. Of course the new kitty, Sebastain, wants to be outside so bad. He used to be an indoor/outdoor kitty, but not anymore. He's all inside. Im afraid he'll try and go to his old house and that would require crossing 290 and I don't think he has a chance of doing that. So inside he stays. Now, if I could only get the three kitties to get along...........

So, off to Conroe for dinner with Andie and family we go. I can't believe they have lived there for three years and this is the first time we've been to their house. Now that is pathetic. I love their house. We sat out on the patio for dinner. The view is beautiful. They back up to a golf course, so lots of trees on one side and the beautiful golf course in the middle. Talk about relaxing. I got to hold little Chase who is just a cutie. He did nothing but smile the entire time we were there. Her daughter Emma, is just as cute as can be. She was playing shy though and wouldn't talk to us too much. We didn't stay too long as her dh was getting ready to go out of town for awhile for work. Just in time to miss her birthday, which is tomorrow!!!! (HAPPY B-DAY ANDIE!!!!) and then their anniversary. I can't believe they have been married for 11 years now. Seems like just yesterday I was at that wedding. Its amazing how time flies.

I was trying to think back on the ride home, when it was that we actually started talking. Seems like we just hit it right off and had always been talking. I know I didn't talk to her much at the wedding since she was just a tiny bit busy. I actually met her husband first back when I was running around with my friend that was an overnight news photog and he hung out with the overnight photog for channel 13 which happened to be Andie's husband. Well, of course at the time, he was her boyfriend. Can you believe they have been together since she was 16??? Holy cow! I spent many a long cold night out on the streets with him and my friend. I do not know how I used to do that. Get off work at 5p meet up with my friend sometime between 8p and 10p and then work through the night until about 6a unless we caught a job then sometimes I'd make it home to crawl in bed at 10a. I was so exhausted but I loved it. Never a dull moment. And look what I came out of it with!!! A good friend!! We've been talking ever since.

Anyway......HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDIE!!! HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT DAY AND HAPPY EARLY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!

If you are a cross dresser, you know its a bad day when......

You make a Dr's appt. at the dermatologist. You get there and fill out paper work (you've been there before so you are a prior patent) and they pull your file double check insurance and off you sit. They call you into the back room and the nurse comes in and ask why you are there and you tell her. She then ask if you would like to have the Dr. scan you body for any moles or irregularities that might be cancerous. So you sit and ponder briefly
knowing that the Dr. is an Asian male and also pondering that you have chosen to wear your pretty white thong panties that day. So, you decide sure why not. Better be safe then sorry in the long run right? And besides, you think to yourself, the Dr. could probably use a good laugh later after you leave. So the nurse says get out of your clothes but leave your under ware on and get into this paper gown and the dr. will be in shortly. You sit and wait and a few minuets later there is a knock at the door and in walks this beautiful tall blonde Dr's assistant. She says that the Dr. is extreamly busy and do you mind if she does the scanning for him... at this point your like GULP um sure... too late to back out now! Now you know she couldn't help but to see the thong in the back when she removed the gown and checked your back side... however she never said a word though.... needles to say you are a little uncomfortable, but thankful you decided to wear the pretty ones today!!!

Seriously, I can't make this shit up but it was WAY too funny not to share!!

Joke of the Day

A hitchhiker was standing on the roadside near the law school with her thumb out. A motorist stopped and asked, "Are you a lawyer?" She said that she wasn't, and the motorist drove off.

A second motorist stopped and asked: "Are you a lawyer?"

She again replied that she wasn't and the motorist again drove off.

A third motorist, this time a strikingly handsome hunk, stopped and asked: "Are you a lawyer?" The hitchhiker said that she was and the hunk told her to get in and off they went.

After a few minutes of admiring the driver, the hitchhiker exlaimed, "This is really something. I've only been a lawyer for five minutes, and already I'm thinking about screwing somebody!"

Cell Phones

You just gotta love em. Modern technology. I don't know anyone that doesn't have one nowadays. Its amazing what they teach you. For example, I found out yesterday when I picked mine up to call a friend, that I was not "authorized to use this feature, and that I must contact customer service in order to have access." Wow. Is this some new type of call screening? I pulled the phone away from my ear and on my screen was the picture of the friend that I was calling, so I know I hit the right button. It even said, connecting at the bottom. Thats a pretty cool feature to have for advanced call screening right?? Nope, sorry, I do not wish for this person to call me, therfore they are not authorized. I dang near ran my truck off the road laughing. I of course hung up and redialed her number and when she answered I promptly asked her how this call screening thing worked cause I thought it was pretty cool!

They also teach you how to multi-task. Did you know it is possible to type a text message to someone while driving 60 miles an hour? Now that is a skill. I should put that on my resume. "Text Messaging up to 60 miles an hour while with the accuracy of keeping your vehicle in your lane and not running into anyone else." Now that is a valuable skill! Im sure it would be most benefical to a perspective employer! Of course, Im sure some employers would rather you didn't know how to use the text messaging feature. Take my lady boss for example. I don't think she found it quite as comical as I did that I could text message her while driving home from work to tell her that Toby Keith had come out with a new song that I think he did just for her, and it was called "High Maintenance Woman." When I saw her at work the next day, she promptly gave me that sign that told me I was still number 1 with her! :-) Oh well. I thought it was pretty darn funny.

Now, my friend has the ultimate cell phone accessory that I woul just love to have. His truck is a roving wireless connection. He has all the latest toys that anyone would envy. This cell phone feature that he is can actually scramble the cell phone frequency of the phones nearest you while driving down the road. This comes in especially handy when you get behind that genius that just simple can't get the concept of driving while they are talking on the phone. Its simple. You find that person that is just chatting away and driving 12 miles an hour in the fast lane, and you come up behind them, hit this button, and PRESTO, lost cell phone call! You can sit there and watch the bewildered look on their faces as they pull their cell phone away from their ear to look at the phone and see what happened to their call. Cool way to entertain yourself as your sitting in traffic!!! I'm so going to have to get me one of those!

And one final thought here unrelated to cell phones, I'd like to welcome Andie to the world of blogging. She is finally here! Tina and Cassie taught me how nice it was to have some place to post your thoughts and it actually is quite addicting once you start it. So, I hope Andie enjoys it as much as I do and I really look forward to reading her posts!!!

Happy Friday everyone!

I can't wait to see this beautiful boy Sunday and hold him in my arms! Listen to him laugh and gigle!! And watch Emma, his sister, interact with him. She is so smart. And just as beautiful as her mother. Good thing she got her momma's looks and not her daddy's!!!! Just kidding Brian!!!
